The Bakery

I'm joining Susan's weekly party Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps On The Porch.
Show off your latest Fall or Thanksgiving tablescape and gather all kinds of inspiration.
and please stop over at
Color Outside The Lines for Artie's weekly Vignette Fridays
A Few of My Favorite Things over at Bargain Hunting
These are just a few of my favorite things -
dishes and tablecloths and more dishes
flatware and glassware
my kitchen
the color red and mushrooms and bread!

Today's vintage tablecloth is all about the goodness of bread and how it sustains us.
Bread is truly the staff of life and in my mind it's a major food group. :-)
There is nothing more comforting than a slice of freshly baked bread.

Contemporary Homer Laughlin "Betty Bowl" from the now defunct Betty Crocker catalog is a
reissue of the vintage Betty Bowl made by several companies for Betty Crocker as a premium
giveaway.   The  vintage version has appeared in prior tablescpaes, Geometric Spring and

My favorite mushrooms Amanita muscaria have appeared in a couple of previous tablescapes:

Dinnerware - Post 86 Fiesta in Scarlet, Black, White
Checkered Plates - Diner dinnerware also from Homer Laughlin
Flatware - Cambridge
Glassware - polka dots from Target, faux cut crystal fro Pier 1
Napkins - Tuesday Morning
Napkin Rings - Cost Plus World Market

Thanks so much for coming by again this week for another tablescape here on TLRT!

  1. Wow, your kitchen is so beautiful and the amount of cupboards must be wonderful! Your table setting is gorgeous. I love red.

  3. To die for gorgeous! Love the mushrooms! Great job!

  6. Just PERFECT! The tablecloth is lovely. The polka dot glasses and patterned flatware is fabulous. I like the way you decorated the napkins with the wheat. I'm ready to join you for a meal.

  7. Candy, what a darling tablecloth! You've shown it off beautifully -- love the polka-dot accents and the checked-rim plates with your vintage pieces. The bread basket looks perfect, especially with the little crocheted mushroom tucked in!

  8. Good Morning, Candy!

Wow, so many very good things: bread, scarlet, dots, special flatware, diner dishes...LOVE it!

  9. Love the red dishes... I am a fan of red.

I am also fan of bread even though I have diabetes. Yum!!

  10. SO very pretty and festive with all the red!!! Perfect touch with the wheat in the napkin!

  11. Very inspiring! love the bakery items! Too cute!

  12. Love it! The mushrooms are too cute for words :D

  13. ...beautiful photos! ....what a combo of thread, red, and bread!

  14. The shocks of wheat are so perfect and effective for a table all about homemade bread. The red is eye-catching, and since red is known to increase appetites, I think that you'd better bake a couple of extra loaves of that bread and have plenty of softened butter on hand! Thank you for sharing your lovely design. Cherry Kay

  15. WOW! This table is WONDERFUL! I just love the colors! That tablecloth almost brought a tear to my eye! Gotta a thing for vintage tablecloths, especially ones with baking themes! Its amazingly beautiful!!!!

  16. Your Fiesta table is very festive. I'm always a sucker for anything red. Thanks so much for sharing. Oh and your kitchen is to die for!

  17. Hi Candy,
the size of your kitchen and the amount of wonderful cupboards with Fiestaware amazes me. Your kitchen is really a beautiful stage for tablescaping. I love your bread theme on the table. Look cheerful and neat. Love the ears in the napkin ring and the Amanita in the basket. The matching flatware look so nice with the plates. And the tablecloth is perfect for Thankgiving, too. I enjoyed my visit very much. Have a good time.
    Greetings, Johanna

  18. Hi Candy,
what a bright cheery and fun table. Loved everything about it. Love how you mix and matched the dots and the checks, delightful!!
    Blessings, Nellie
    Always enjoy my visit!!

  19. Am I the only person that can get weepy eyed over a tablescape. This table reminds me so much of being home with my grandparents. She didn't have red, but she had fiesta and glasses so is gorgeous, as is your kitchen!!

  20. I love this tablescape but I say that every time I stop by. You are such a creative gal and I love visiting you here.

  21. Candy...your tables ALWAYS take my vingage loving breath away! Your reds are gorgeous :)

  22. What a fun table with all the cheerful red, the polka dots and checks, and those red mushrooms. Candy, this table is great fun! I'm with you on fresh bread. My grandmother baked bread every week. What a treat! ~ Sarah

  23. I'm so pleased you all enjoyed this tablescape! It is one of my favorites .... but I say that about all my pretties. :-)

Ceekay - I get weepy too .... I think it's the memories that come from life's experiences more than the actual things. Yep, this could be at my Grandma's house, with all the cousins gathered around fighting over who gets the first waffle!

More tables coming up this week .... an unusual color combo for a cornucopia, a "fowl" table, and a more traditional fall colorway with a California twist the week of Thanksgiving. Please stop back and say hello!

  24. What a wondewrful post Candy! That wall of beautiful cabinets with all of the colorful Fiesta took my breath away! I adore your kitchen, and I've never seen a tablescape by you that I didn't love. This table is no exception. Love the checks and polka dots all mixed up with the cute mushrooms and the vintage cloth. I really need some of those polka dot glasses, and I'd also love to have some of that checked flatware. Oh heck! I want it all - including your wonderful kitchen. Thank you so much for linking this to Favorite Things Sat. laurie
